One of our pet peeves is doggie daycare, recreational and kennel facilities
that require "up to date" or "current" vaccinations, including bordetella,
DHPP and canine influenza.
By "up to date", they mean annual or even twice annually (in the case of
bordetella). However, current research shows no scientific justification for
annual vaccinations and over-vaccination can cause health problems in pets.
We are thrilled to list the following facilities that do not require annual
vaccines for dogs, as they are also aware of the potential problems
of over-vaccinations.
For more information on health problems caused by over-vaccination, see our
article here:
Vaccination Controversy
Holistic Pet Services is proud to be San Leandro's only
green dog boarding and training center. We offer dog boarding in our
home with 24-hour care for your beloved pet(s). We provide
everything your companion needs, while eliminating exposure to
harmful toxins from cleaning products, air fresheners, and
lawn/garden pesticides or herbicides. Holistic Pet Services
is owner operated, not a large business, so you can rest assured
that Mary will be the one caring for your pets every time, not a
subcontractor who you have never met. Mary is a member of the
National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and is
licensed and insured.
They can accommodate special needs dogs,
special diets/medications/supplements, and help to reinforce your
dog-friendly training program. Separation anxiety is no problem, as
your dog will have at least 1 human and 2 dogs for company at all
times.
Relaxed vaccine requirements—vaccines will not be required if
your pet is at least one year of age and has had a physical exam by
a veterinarian and found to be in good health in the last six
months. Medical records will be required. Requirements for puppies &
kittens vary by case.
Hounds on the Hill only requires current rabies vaccination,
as required by Colorado State law.

Bifrost Farms
Boarding kennel, training and behavior center

Bifrost Farms is operated by Joel & Meg Wittenmyer.
We know Meg personally from when she used to reside in Denver,
Colorado. She is dedicated to using holistic methods to promote the
optimal health of dogs. Meg is a certified canine massage and
acupressure therapist and these services are always offered to your
boarding dogs. What makes Joel such a good trainer is the ‘way’ he
has with dogs which seem to make them want to do what he’s asking of
them. Together they have created Bifrost Farms to be a Whole Dog
facility for the furkids in your home.
The kennel offers raw feeding if desired and subscribes to the
minimal vaccination protocol as prescribed by Dr. Dodds of
Hemopet.
