SLO (Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy)Since we are not vets, the following is our lay interpretation. SLO (Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy) is another auto-immune disease where the body mistakenly forms antibodies that attack the body itself. It is similar to the body's response with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) or Auto Immune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA). In the case of Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy, the body forms antibodies against its toe nails and literally rejects them. Prednisone and Prednisolone are the most commonly prescribed drugs and while it does suppress the body's immune system from attacking itself, it does nothing to make the toe nails grow back. We suspect any hormonal changes and/or a malfunctioning master gland in the brain (i.e., pineal, pituitary, hypothalamus) could trigger these auto-immune diseases. Over the six years (since 2002) we have been using BioPreparation, many dogs have recovered from SLO, IMHA, AIHA and other auto-immune diseases. Since we are not medically trained, our guess (based on 20+ years of bio-algae concentrates animal research) is that BioPreparation has the ability to awaken the master glands of the brain and stimulate the body's immune system. It does so by feeding super nutrients to the body at the cellular level (microalgae are one cell organisms) rather than trying to 'fix' the problem with drugs or a supplement that needs to be digested and broken down in the digestive tract.
