Holistic No-Brainer

In this first newsletter of the year, we want to discuss the single most important holistic concept we have learned over the past 20 years. This concept will benefit you or your pet, if you have experienced any of the following scenarios:

1. Start taking an isolated supplement or drug, only to find the benefits decrease after while. The prescribing healthcare practitioner tells you to take more or give more to your pet.

2. You or your pet have to keep increasing an isolated supplement or drug to maintain the same benefits, only to find you have reached the maximum recommended daily amount (without side effects or toxicity). The healthcare practitioner then prescribes another product or drug, which works in a different way.

3. You try (or give to your pet) an isolated supplement or drug that other people have reported yields great results but you or your pet experience none.

Disadvantages of Using Only Western Medicine

Why do all the above scenarios happen? Based on our 100+ years of holistic experience, it is because one is supplementing the symptoms in secondary glands and organs and never addressing the primary imbalance/deficiency in the brain. The brain is the very first gland/organ of the body to know when something is not working efficiently, when we are not getting adequate nutrition, when we have excess toxins we cannot eliminate, when excess stress causes dysfunction or we have an overgrowth of cancer cells. The following are disadvantages of only using Western medicine principles:

1. Western allopathic medicine does not teach us to look for the root cause of disease, only to "fix" the symptoms quickly.

2. Western medicine and even a majority of holistic practitioners do not have products/ingredients that can cross the blood/brain barrier.

Here is an analogy. Your 10-year old computer is so slow it is hindering your work. You have upgraded your hard drive by doubling its storage space (GB), increasing its speed in revolutions per minute (RPM) and seek time. You have already installed more RAM chips to increase its memory capacity but it is still too slow. The missing link is replacing the CPU (Central Processing Unit), the "brains" of your computer, on the motherboard. So, how can one upgrade your or your pet's brain? The most important holistic concept we have learned in the last 20 years is, nourish and balance the brain first, before addressing the symptoms.

Take Holistic Action BEFORE Symptoms Show Up or Blow Up

The first reason why it is so hard to take action BEFORE symptoms show up or blow up, is that the body does not show immediate symptoms when the brain first notices an imbalance or deficiency. Veterinarians tell us 50-75% of kidney degeneration occurs before symptoms of Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) are present. Some holistic vets have told us cats sometimes show no (clinical) signs of illness until it is too late. Dogs have learned not to show signs of pain or weakness in the wild in order to survive, and now that they are domesticated, to please their human parents. Dr. Leonard Coldwell says breast cancer may start in the breast 7-10 years before there are any detectable symptoms. So, one cannot reverse the initial 50% of degeneration by just taking a pill, surgically removing the tumor or just killing offending cancer cells with a drug, when symptoms appear. Instead of being medically reactive, we suggest being holistically proactive BEFORE symptoms appear. See our holistic suggestions on how to do this at the end.

Why Fix What Is Not Broken?

The second reason Western medicine principles are not working can be summed up in the common phrase, "why fix what is not broken?" In our busy Western society we often look at making a doctor's appointment as an inconvenience, necessary evil or last resort if the pain gets too bad. When we do finally make that appointment, the doctor prescribes the red pill for lab values too low or the blue pill for lab values too high. This is supplementing the symptoms, with no thought given as to why the lab value is abnormal, such as bad dietary habits, changes in lifestyle, exposure to chemical or environmental agents, excessive stress, etc. There is no consideration as to whether the symptom is showing a primary or secondary imbalance in the body. There is no contemplation on what can be done holistically to balance this abnormal value before taking medication, such as a better diet, exercise, change in lifestyle, reducing stress, more sleep, etc. Even if holistic considerations were done before a pill is prescribed, what drugs or products do healthcare practitioners have whose ingredients (drug or nutrition) can cross the blood/brain barrier?

Nature's own whole food products (not isolated supplements) have super nutrition that can cross the blood/brain barrier. Whole food products, like oranges, salmon and algae, are how Nature intended our and our pet's bodies to get nourished. Dr. Michael Kiriac's 40+ years of successful cancer in animals’ research showed certain species of microalgae were abundant in antioxidants that can cross the blood/brain barrier. These super nutrients include (but not limited to), alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, gamma-carotene, lycopene, zeaxanthin, lutein, beta-cryptoxanthin, phycocyanin, xanthophylis and astaxanthin. When the pituitary (master gland), pineal and hypothalamus in the brain are properly nourished and balanced, they will scan and regulate all the secondary glands and organs back into balance. This is what we call healing from the top>down or inside>out. This is NOT supplementing the symptoms with isolated supplements. Dr. Kiriac says, "If one can influence the health of the brain, the rest is a no-brainer." This is what he calls "awakening the genius within." This is not taking Product/Drug A for arthritis, Product/Drug D for digestion or Product/Drug E for the eyes. We suggest taking whole food products containing these super antioxidants on a daily basis and not just when symptoms show up or blow up. Remember, algae are whole foods at the bottom of the food chain meant to be consumed by all living plants and animals (including humans).

Holistic Conclusions:

If you already have any symptoms, make sure your nutritional product contains ingredients that nourish and support a balanced brain, in addition to addressing the symptoms. Otherwise you or your pet will probably experience some or all three scenarios at the beginning of this article.

If you do not have any major symptoms but have one or more of the following, do the above anyway:

1. Genetic predisposition to a health malady.

2. Get frequent or multiple colds or flu each season.

3. Already have a glandular imbalance.

4. Already have seasonal allergies of any kind.

5. Have an autoimmune condition.

6. Are over 50 years old.

7. Want to stay healthy, strong and vibrant well past retirement age.
