Pet Food RecallsIn July, 2018, the FDA began an investigation into reports of canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in pets eating certain foods, many "grain-free" labeled, that contained a high proportion of peas, lentils, other legume seeds (pulses), and/or potatoes in various forms (whole, flour, protein, etc.) as main ingredients. We have heard that some large pet food manufacturers and some traditional Western veterinarians are recommending pet parents avoid "BEG" diets—Boutique companies, Exotic ingredients or Grain-free diets. Before you panic, read our truly holistic perspective in previous newsletters:
The pet food recalls continue. The best "wholistic" suggestion to prevent danger to your pet is — STOP feeding dry kibble dog food. In our "wholistic" opinion, dry kibble dog food is the least nutritious form of food to feed a carnivore. Furthermore, a majority of all pet food recalls is with dry food. Canned food, freeze-dried food and raw food have a much lower percentage of recalls. For the latest recalls, go to: Dog Food Recalls or FDA website To read more on our "wholistic" philosophy on pet food, go to the following links:

Be BoldDrugs and isolated supplements (like a Vitamin C pill or fish oil capsule) contain high doses of active ingredients to treat the symptoms. The advantage is they get results quickly to alleviate the symptoms. This is clearly the product doing the work. The disadvantages are, they do not balance the original cause of the symptoms and they may cause side effects and toxicity because they have higher dosages than Nature intended our bodies to get. Because of these disadvantages, caution must be observed beyond what the doctor prescribed or healthcare practitioner recommended. On the other hand, our whole superfood products (BioPreparation, BioSuperfood, Cellular PSP, Seacure) are like oranges and salmon, which have thousands of nutrients all in small food-grade quantities. One major advantage is that these whole food products also contain all the complementary vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, etc. that Nature dictated are needed to make everything work optimally in our and our pet's bodies to balance the original cause (not just treat the symptom). Another advantage is that research shows absorption and utilization of nutrients from whole food products is 90-95%, versus only 10-25% with isolated supplements. This is the body/brain doing the work and NOT the product, as with drugs and isolated supplements. One, therefore, does not need the mega doses of just active ingredients that drugs and isolated supplements require (thus saving you money). Because the nutrients are in small food-grade quantities, one big advantage is there are no side effects and zero toxicity. Here is an example illustrating this holistic advantage. Based on our personal and our clients' nutritional experience with the products, we normally suggest starting an average size cat (7-14 pounds) slowly at one pinch bio-algae concentrates powder per meal for the first 3-5 days. If the body adjusts fine to this new superfood (see FAQ document for any potential digestive or excessive detoxing symptoms), then we suggest increasing by one additional pinch bio-algae concentrates powder per meal every 3-5 days thereafter. Our suggested guidelines are to work up to 1.0 capsule/day for general nutritional maintenance or 1-2 capsules/day for even more advanced benefits, as needed and tolerated by the body. See our web page, Cat & Finicky Dog Hints, for further food suggestions and tips for using partial capsules. As always, there are exceptions. One client, who does a lot of animal rescue work, recently *saved* a very sick cat by giving him 3 capsules a day for three days. The cat is now recovering nicely. While we would never suggest starting a cat (or small dog under 15 pounds) at 3 capsules of BioPreparation-F3+ per day, this "wholistically" worked. We have seen this before with critically sick pets, where the body needs more super nutrition than the suggested guidelines by weight to correct or balance whatever is causing the fatal symptoms. So, our rule of thumb in such instances is to ramp up to whatever daily amount brings the desired benefits, without producing excessive detoxing symptoms. We have seen the need to increase this to 2-4 times the suggested guidelines by weight. So, our holistic suggestion is to be bold when needed and go beyond the suggest guidelines because our whole superfood products have no side effects and zero toxicity, unlike drugs and isolated supplements. Here is another example. In some instances in order to prescribe medication. a vet must make an exact diagnosis as to the cause of the symptom in order to match the drug to the symptom. In other situations, a broad-spectrum drug may be used but it may not be as effective. What does a vet do if a pet is literally dying and NO diagnosis can be made?
"We had a cat that came to our
hospital that had not eaten in 4 days. All lab tests and blood work were
negative. Further examination found absolutely nothing wrong with the
cat, but it was still dying. At the suggestion of Russell Louie, owner
of Optimum Choices, I gave the owner some bio-algae concentrates
(commercial product BioPreparation) and told him to mix it in water and
squirt it into the cat's mouth. The cat started to eat and drink a
little by the end of the day. By the next day the cat was eating
normally and totally recovered. I never figured out what was wrong with
the cat, but the owner was very thankful that bio-algae concentrates
literally saved his cat's life." For humans, most people wait for symptoms to show up or blow up before taking holistic action. With the coronavirus (COVID-19) starting to make a global impact and no vaccine or specific medical treatment available yet, would it make good "wholistic" sense to be bold and support and balance our entire immune system now to its optimum potential? Uncover our holistic research in previous newsletters and be bold by taking proactive holistic action now:
