The pet food recalls continue. The best "wholistic" suggestion to prevent
danger to your pet is -- STOP feeding dry kibble dog food. In our
"wholistic" opinion, dry kibble dog food is the least nutritious form of
food to feed a carnivore. Furthermore, a majority of all pet food recalls is
with dry food. Canned food, freeze-dried food and raw food have a much lower

Science is finally
catching up with our holistic observations from way back in 2003. On
September 10, 2018, we
published an article entitled, Holistic Risks
With Heartworm, Flea & Tick Treatment
in our
Freedom from Illness newsletter. In our article, we noted
since 2003 that as high as 70-90% of our anemic pet clients had received
a recent vaccination,
heartworm medication and/or flea & tick treatment prior to contracting a
potentially deadly anemia condition called Immune Mediated
Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) or
Autoimmune Hemolytic
Anemia (AIHA). While not scientific proof, some pet parents
had used heartworm medication and/or flea & tick treatment brands such
as Frontline®, Bravecto®, Interceptor Plus®, Trifexis®, Seresto®,
Comfortis®, Nexgard® and Heartgard®. Now on September 20, 2018, the
FDA issued a warning for isoxazoline class flea & tick products,
including such brands as Bravecto®, Credelio®, Nexgard® and Simparica®.
The FDA said it is working with manufacturers of isoxazoline products to
include new label information to highlight the risk of neurologic events
because these events were seen consistently across all isoxazoline class
of products.
These adverse events can include muscle
tremors, ataxia (lack of coordination, abnormal gait or movement in the
legs,
head or torso) and seizures. Although we have no medical knowledge, it
would seem to be holistically possible that if a pesticide can
infiltrate the brain to cause any of the above symptoms, this same
pesticide could potentially disrupt brain signals responsible for the
healthy production of red (anemia) and white blood cells, as well as
platelets (immune-mediated thrombocytopenia or ITP). When both red blood
cells (IMHA or AIHA) and platelets (ITP) are affected, then it is called
Evans Syndrome.
Some of these products work systemically through distribution in the
bloodstream of the pet. One of our
holistic questions is: what systemic affects do these neurotoxins have
on the kidneys, liver and brain of pets, which receive this "treated"
blood? Is it possible that these pesticides meant to kill insects, has
somehow altered the red blood cells so that the liver thinks the red
blood cells are damaged and not useful? If so, then IMHA and AIHA may
not be an auto-immune condition, if the liver is just doing its job. The
obvious holistic solution is to stop "treating" the blood systemically
with a pesticide (harmful foreign substance to the liver) and nourish
and balance the glands in the brain to resume a process it already knows
how to do, manufacture healthy red blood cells. This is just our
"wholistic" opinion based on our observations from helping over 1300
anemic pets since 2002 and NOT scientific proof.
