Merrick Chondro Chips

These were discontinued recently by the manufacturer and we just sold the last of our stock. We suggest trying Active Care Healthy Joint Treats which contain the same ingredients as Chondro Chips. Breeder's Choice, manufacturer of the Healthy Joint Treats, is the patent holder on them which is why Merrick stopped making them.

Active Care Healthy Joint Treats

These treats from Breeder's Choice are very similar to Chondro Chips. Breeder's Choice is the patent holder on these.
This is a whole food product supplying the chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine HCl in the form nature intended for our companion animals. Contains NO carbohydrates (starch fillers), binders, propylene glycol, preservatives or synthetic ingredients. All-natural treat with no man-made ingredients. Dogs love the taste of these chewy treats. For older pets with arthritis or hip dysplasia and for younger pets to help prevent it.

Unique Joint Treats

What makes the ACTIVE CARE chews different is natural bovine cartilage and their patented method of obtaining it. Many pet food companies have taken an easy leap onto the healthy joint bandwagon by adding varying amounts of synthetic forms of chondroitin and glucosamine then claiming to promote good joint health. Natural bovine cartilage provides the all-important GAGs (glycosaminoglycans) in an all natural stable form so there are no chemical side effects. With natural bovine cartilage, ACTIVE CARE was specifically created to maintain good joint health.

Customer Testimonials for Chondro Chips (same ingredients as Healthy Joint Treats)

My dog jumped on the bed after starting on your Chondro Chips. He hasn’t done that in a long while.

Our dog’s rear leg limp became less frequent. I put your Chondro Chips on autoship so I will always have a regular supply.

My elderly German Shepherd acts like a puppy when offered your Chondro Chips. He sits up, begs and offers his paw just to get your treat.

Why is Natural Cartilage so Important?

All ACTIVE CARE products are made with natural cartilage because they provide complete joint nutrition with substantially more total GAGs and other nutrients healthy joints need. Natural bovine cartilage provides significantly higher quantities of all the GAGs including glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, and hyaluronic acid to supply the cartilage cells with the building blocks they need to help re-build joints.

In their natural unprocessed form, these nutrients are easy for your dog’s system to recognize and absorb. And because they come in chews, biscuits and food you can easily make good joint health part of your dog’s daily routine. These are all quality treats and foods, low in fat and sodium, that your dog will love everyday. No pills, no powders, no forgetting. With ACTIVE CARE healthy joints are a natural.

Dogs of all ages can benefit from these treats. Studies show that glucosamine supplementation can be even more effective in younger dogs than older. Good joint nutrition can delay the onset of joint problems for years. For dogs already experiencing joint problems, Active Care treats can help your dog move more comfortably, with greater ease and less pain. Some people see results in just a few weeks.

Understanding Real vs. Synthetic

  • Active Care is made with real ingredients from natural sources, not processed ingredients.
  • Made with pure bovine cartilage for faster hip and joint relief.
  • Supplements, liquids, etc. contain processed glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, not Active Care Chews.
  • Contains the highest levels of GAGs (chondroitin sulfate & glucosamine) PLUS "additional ones" the others don't contain since it comes from whole food.
  • Whole food nutrients are less likely to produce side effects of glucosamine such as yeast outbreaks, blood sugar disorders and liver overload.
  • Whole food nutrients are more bio-available and absorbable than synthetic ingredients

Side Effects of Glucosamine

Taking some supplements is like putting your finger in the dike to stop the water leak. Yes, the symptoms (water leak) go away but have you holistically healed the body? By taking isolated supplements what other imbalances have developed? Did you know?

  • Glucosamine may impair insulin secretion through competitive inhibition of glucokinase in pancreatic beta cells and/or alteration of peripheral glucose uptake. Patients with diabetes should be cautious since glucosamine may affect insulin sensitivity or glucose tolerance.
(Physicians Desk Reference for Non-Prescription Drugs & Supplements, 2005)
  • Glucosamine (derivative of glucose) made within your cells typically is hidden from the areas where yeast and fungi grow. Orally ingested glucosamine passes through your digestive tract and into your bloodstream where yeast live then feed on the glucosamine. Thus, glucosamine provides yeast with a source of energy as well as an important building block for overgrowth and a flare-up of Candida symptoms.

BEST VALUE!

1 month's supply* for under $20.00 compared to synthetic pills.
* Based upon 40-45 lb. dog.

Feeding Suggestions

Best if fed twice per day. These treats are made with natural bovine cartilage and should be fed liberally with confidence. If your dog weighs 40 pounds, feed 1 chew in the morning and 1 chew in the evening. For smaller dogs you can moisten each chew in warm water to soften (takes about 5 minutes) and either mix in with regular food or feed it as a moist treat. Remember: 1 pound a month feeds an average 40 lb. dog.

  • Crude Fat not less than 3.0%
  • Crude Fat not more than 5.0%
  • Fiber not more than 1.5%
  • Moisture not more than 10.0%

*The above analysis for Chondroitin Sulfate and Glucosamine is the guaranteed minimum/chew. A factory representative told us the actual average measured values were 4 times (4X) that printed on the label. Remember to think holistically. It is not the maximum amount (allopathically speaking) of Chondroitin Sulfate and Glucosamine that makes a better joint treat. It is the bio-availability and synergistic combination of all of Nature's ingredients (e.g., GAGs, enzymes, amino acids, trace minerals) that make Active Care Healthy Joint Treats superior. We feel whole food treats are far better than isolated liquid supplements or synthetic pills without the long-term side effects. Your pet will feel the difference.

Breeder's Choice Active Care Healthy Joint Treats, 16 oz. bag

$17.49

Note: These chews are harder and thicker than in the past because there was a change in the source of the cartilage used from frozen to dry. This change was made when the source for the frozen was no longer available to the manufacturer. You may wish to soak the chews prior to feeding for smaller dogs if you have concerns about them being too hard for their teeth.
