Optimum
Choices is not housing these dogs and has no further information on them. We are
simply posting their pictures here as a service to the Misha May Foundation.
Please contact Lorraine May, executive director, for further information at
info@mishamayfoundation.org. Applications may be downloaded from the links
below and e-mailed to Lorraine.
Tragic: Out of every 10 families that get
dogs, only 4 families keep theirs beyond the first year.
Misha May is determined to change that, so we place a
great deal of importance on where each dog goes. We want
to work with you for a forever match. Please go to
http://mishamayfoundation.org/adopt.htm to read
about our adoption process and to complete an
application. Puppies are in a foster home. A completed
application is required before you can make a
private appointment to meet the puppies. Adoption fee is
$200 which includes spay/neuter, vaccines, de-worming
and micro chipping. Puppies may be chosen and adopted at
any time now, however, they may not be able to go to
their home that same day.
We are at the Lakewood Petco, near Wadsworth and Alameda
across from Bel-Mar, with some of our dogs, on the
second Saturday of each month between 3-5:30pm. You can
also go to our website events page,
http://mishamayfoundation.org/events.htm, to find
other locations where we will have our dogs up for
adoption. We are always in need of foster homes,
volunteers and donations of money and supplies. Email
info@mishamayfoundation.org if you would like more
information.
Valentino
"I'm Valentino and my 8 week birthday is on April
9th. I am going to be a small - medium, but lively
dog. And, of course, I will be a very lively puppy.
Misha May wants you to remember that adopting a
puppy is bringing the baby of another species into
your home. There is a lot to learn about me and what
I need, and I will require a great deal of your
time. In return, I will make your life much better
than you ever imagined.
I am ready to be separated from mom, a lab /
boxer mix who was left at a local shelter, on the
verge of giving birth. If I had been taken away from
her earlier than at 8 weeks, I would not have had
the time to learn everything mom has to teach me.
That could have caused behavior problems to develop.
Right now I am right where I am supposed to be
developmentally and socially, as I have been living
in a foster home with my family since I was 1 day
old.
The next 2 weeks with my littermates, without mom,
will help all of us pups build confidence in order
to transition to a very different life. I also get
to play with other friendly, professionally
evaluated, puppies and adult dogs that continue to
teach me what I need to know. Then we pups will be
ready for adoption."
Valentino is an inside dog whose best home includes
a yard with a secure fence so that he can play
outside safely when he gets older.Valentino would
love to live with a friendly dog who will continue
to teach him good manners and the rules of the new
house. He is too little to be alone with children.
He may be feeling lonely and scared so he needs
gentle loving patient people who will help him
adjust.
"Nobody knows anything more about my parents,
especially my dad. We assume he was a small
dog. We will turn out to be terrific dogs if the new
home provides the developmental attention necessary,
as we are already socialized and loving. Misha May
will provide you with a puppy development chart so
that you can be sure to continue to help us mature
into healthy, happy members of your family and
society."
