Oil of the Month

Into the Future

In these stressful times, change is a mandate for survival not an option. But in order to move into the future one must first let go of the past. Too often we get mired in the "same old, same old" or "what's the use" philosophy. We settle for mediocrity and feel helpless to change the future. When we have fear of the unknown and what's to come in the future we paralyze ourselves into accepting our present circumstances. We sometimes need an extra boost in order to move forward with vision and excitement. This blend was formulated to inspire determination and a pioneering spirit and support the emotions in helping us create the feeling of moving forward. Living on the edge with tenacity and integrity brings the excitement of the challenge and the joy of success.

Ingredients

Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) is considered a holy anointing oil in the Middle East and has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years.High in sesquiterpenes, frankincense helps stimulate the limbic part of the brain, which elevates the mind, helping to overcome stress and despair. It is used in European medicine to combat depression.

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) regulates the cells and balances the hormones. It contains natural sclareol, a phytoestrogen that mimics estrogen function. Clary sage may help with menstrual cramps, PMS, and pre-menopause symptoms and may help with circulatory problems.

Jasmine (Jasminum officinale) is beneficial for dry, greasy, irritated, or sensitive skin. It is used for muscle spasms, sprains, coughs, laryngitis, frigidity, depression, and nervous exhaustion.

Juniper (Juniperus osteosperma and/or J. scopulorum) may work as a detoxifier and cleanser, and promotes improved nerve and kidney function. It is also beneficial for the skin reducing dermatitis, eczema, and acne. Juniper elevates spiritual awareness creating feelings of love and peace.

Fir (Abies alba) is antimicrobial. It has been researched for its ability to kill airborne germs and bacteria. Fir is antiseptic, antiarthritic, and stimulating. It supports the body and reduces the symptoms of arthritis, rheumatism, bronchitis, coughs, sinusitis, cold, flu, and fevers. As a conifer oil, fir creates a feeling of grounding, anchoring, and empowerment.

Orange (Citrus aurantium) was believed to bring joy, peace, and happiness to those who possessed it. It contains limonene, an antiviral compound, and citral, an antibacterial compound.  Orange is elevating to the mind and body and brings joy and peace. It has been recognized to help a dull, oily complexion.

Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) has calming and purifying properties. High in sesquiterpenes which can stimulate the limbic part of the brain (the center of our emotions), this conifer oil has been used by North American Indians to enhance spiritual awareness and communication.  Cedarwood may also help stimulate the pineal gland, which releases melatonin, a hormone that enhances deep sleep.

Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) helps bring about a sense of relaxation and may help balance male and female energies. It balances equilibrium and restores confidence and self-love.

Idaho Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) is antiviral, anti-infectious, antibacterial, and fights colds, flu, and infections. According to E. Joseph Montagna's PDR on herbal formulas, tansy may help skin problems, strengthen the kidneys, heart, joints, digestive system.

Comments by Russell Louie

After working with the oil blends of Gratitude and Believe, I felt I was ready to move into the future with my new career and business. I chose Into The Future because I still felt the remnants of fear of the unknown future. I applied this oil blend to my heart and thymus area every day. Every time I took a deep breath I could smell the oil blend inspire me to reach for my highest potential. The unknown was no longer a deterrent but an exciting result to look forward to. This encouraged me to take deep breaths often just to smell the oils. Having more oxygen in my body invigorated me to meet every challenge in my new business rather than paralyze me in the old ways.

Book of the Month

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

This book (actually a trilogy of books) was published in the 1950's and has enthralled generations of readers, as well as being studied and acclaimed by scholars. It is far more than just another "fantasy novel". Some people have called it the greatest novel of the 20th century. With the recent release of the Lord of the Rings movies by Peter Jackson, the book's popularity is soaring again. While the movies are a masterpiece of cinematography, they are no substitute for reading the books (for one thing, they deviate quite a bit from the plot of the books, especially in the second movie).

What gives Lord of the Rings the quality of classic literature is that it is a retelling of the ancient mythological story of the hero's journey. For a good explanation of the archetypal hero's journey as portrayed in Lord of the Rings and a Jungian interpretation of the story, see: http://greenbooks.theonering.net/guest/files/120101_02.html.
