We have found for our own health and the health of our animals, that a good
source of probiotics (good bacteria) is essential in our diet, in addition
to the enzymes and nutrients in
BioSuperfood and
BioPreparation.
A good "industrial-strength" probiotic is absolutely essential after
taking any antibiotic(s), since antibiotics kill off both bad and good bacteria
indiscriminately. While eating yogurt is good for maintenance, it does not
supply enough friendly bacteria to be therapeutic.
Pet Flora Probiotics
When a dog or cat eats grass it may be because they have an upset stomach, yet
if you look closely, you'll notice they pull at the grass. Why? To get at the
microscopic soil-based organisms (SBOs) that surround the roots, which they
instinctively know are essential to maintaining good health, which may be
missing from their diet. This is why the Pet Flora probiotics are superior to
dairy-based probiotics for pets -- it's natural to your pet.
Pet Flora is a Soil-Based Organism. Soil-Based means that the natural probiotic
organisms of the soil are the ingredients in Pet Flora. In the soil, these
microorganisms hold down yeast and fungi, reduce acidity, and improve
assimilation of nutrients to plants. Amazingly, they do exactly the same in
higher animals. Pet Flora holds down yeasts, fungi, and pathogenic
microorganisms, while improving nutrient assimilation. Click on the button below

improve immunity. Life 5 contains 8 billion active cultures and improves
colonization up to 10 times in humans.
To order Life 5 online, go to our
online Young Living site,
then click on Product Catalog, choose the Nutrition category, then Supplements
A-M, then Life 5. We recommend keeping it refrigerated to preserve the
potency of the probiotics in it. We do not recommend using Life 5 for animals, since the probiotic strains
were specifically selected for the human digestive tract.
We have previously used
Garden of Life's:
Primal Defense® ULTRA Ultimate Probiotic Formula for our pets. We were particularly impressed with this product after seeing our elderly
cat, Connie, get well from a mystery illness when we added this to her diet.
Although Connie was on a good raw diet supplemented with BioPreparation-f3+
(the most advanced formula), she became sick in November 2003. We do not know what was
wrong with her—she had a strange combination of symptoms including frequent
belching, diminished appetite, lethargy and depression. She also had something
wrong with her throat that made her unable to meow and caused her to
occasionally gag/cough like something was stuck in her throat. Our theory is
that she may have had difficulty transitioning to an all-raw diet after a
lifetime of commercial, cooked pet food. We started giving her the probiotic,
mixed in with her food and she immediately started improving. After a few weeks,
she was back to her normal self and able to meow again, with no more cough.
