Pet Food RecallsThe pet food recalls continue. The best "wholistic" suggestion to prevent danger to your pet is — STOP feeding dry kibble dog food. In our "wholistic" opinion, dry kibble dog food is the least nutritious form of food to feed a carnivore. Furthermore, a majority of all pet food recalls is with dry food. Canned food, freeze-dried food and raw food have a much lower percentage of recalls. For the latest recalls, go to: Dog Food Recalls or FDA website To read more on our "wholistic" philosophy on pet food, go to the following links:

Continuous Learning is Secret to LongevityLearning is not just for school-age children. The old saying, "one can't teach an old dog new tricks," has been disproven by our own personal pet experience and all the new brain research on people. Older dogs (and people) can still learn new things: the key is motivation and repetition. In September, children traditionally go back to school to learn. Even in today's pandemic-induced online and hybrid environments, any type of learning is good for our children's education and our future. Even as older adults, we need to not only enhance our physical and emotional health but continue to exercise our brain to expand our mental health by constantly learning new things. All the latest research shows we can avoid the mental decline so often associated with conditions such as Alzheimer's and dementia, by continuously learning, which creates new neural pathways in our brain. Here is a personal example. Still Active After 65After Margaret's father "retired" at age 65 from his college teaching position, he continued to supervise graduate student therapists. After age 65, he released his second edition of his psychoanalytic book he wrote, that is still used as a college textbook. Her father still tutored inner city children, volunteered for the church vestry and played bridge well into his 80's. He stayed relatively active and even traveled to South Georgia Island (near Antarctica) in his mid-80's. She feels his longevity can be attributed to keeping his brain active. Margaret's father died at 93 years old of heart failure. Getting stuck in old habits does not stretch our brain's abilities. Our brain is a good engineer and is always looking for the most efficient way to get things done. Following the same old pattern, to get the same old results is far more efficient than learning a new way and risking a new outcome. But the COVID-19 pandemic is causing us to learn new daily habits, lifestyle and way of coping to adjust to ever changing requirements. While this is stressful in the short-term, it is actually good for our long-term brain health to learn these new ways. According to Mark Robert Waldman (on the Executive MBA faculty at Loyola Marymount University and also teaches at Holmes Institute), one of the best ways to decrease the decline into Alzheimer's is to continue to learn and create new memories. Alzheimer's PredictorA recent UC Berkeley study in Current Biology showed, getting adequate sleep now, becomes a good predictor for Alzheimer's later. The brain literally washes itself during deep sleep. The deep non-REM slow-wave sleep cleanses the brain of beta-amyloid deposits. This toxic plaque is a key player in the onset and progression of Alzheimer's that destroys memory pathways and other brain functions. So, driving ourselves to work long days and spending all night caring for our families, is NOT good for brain health. Learn a new habit by getting an adequate amount of sleep (7-8 hours for most people), having the same bedtime and setting up a good sleep environment (cool room, no distractions, no blue light devices-cell phone, tablet, computer, LCD TV). Super Brain FuelTo facilitate all the above new learning processes, we suggest nutritionally supporting your brain too. After all, an athlete would not expect to be a champion by eating hamburgers, pizza and fried chicken daily. Russell has had to take selected amino acid supplements (Glycine, NAC [N-Acetyl-1-Cysteine], Custom Amino Acid Base, NeuroReplete) to nourish his mTBI (mild Traumatic Brain Injury) recovery. But he also takes several general whole food products that nourish ALL the glands in the brain, not just his specific TBI-damaged areas. Because they are whole superfood products they would benefit anyone wanting to have better memory, focus, concentration, tolerance for stress, analytical abilities, executive functions, such as planning, logistics, decision making, etc. Even if you do not have a mTBI you may want these benefits our clients have experienced:
If you are interested in the above benefits, learn the holistic details on our web page, BioSuperfood, and ask Russell about MindWise (not in our shopping cart). BioSuperfood-f3 has abundant antioxidants that can actually cross the blood/brain barrier. Right after his accident, Russell increased his daily intake of BioSuperfood-f3 from 7 capsules/day to 14-16 capsules/day just to survive his concussion. The abundant antioxidants helped to reduce his brain inflammation so he could still function. The brain energy in BioSuperfood allowed him to keep his Internet business open, in spite of all his mistakes and inefficiencies caused by the mTBI. MindWise is a liquid nutritional brain supplement made by Young Living Essential Oils. MindWise contains the exotic sacha inchi seed oil, acai puree, pomegranate juice and extract, turmeric, essential oils and more. It was formulated to support daily cognitive functions and good cardiovascular health. Immediately after starting MindWise, Russell noticed a decrease in the amount of daily naptime needed and his mTBI memory improved. Because Young Living Essential Oils is a multi-level company, we cannot sell it directly from our website. Please e-mail Russell for further details. A third holistic product Russell is using to stay mentally alert (at age 68) after his mTBI and improve his eyesight from glaucoma is our polysaccharide/polypeptide product, Cellular PSP. Research showed that taking Cellular PSP reduced the oxidative damage caused by free radicals, which contribute to the neuronal brain cell damage caused by Alzheimer's. Cellular PSP may also help the body reduce the protein plaque (such as beta-amyloid) buildup responsible for much inflammation. A recent study at Emory University proved that taking Cellular PSP daily, actually regenerated and rejuvenated nerve endings. Discover more in the article, Alzheimer's Risk Factors and Prevention. One client, with TWO traumatic brain injuries (TBI) says, Cellular PSP "makes me feel mentally brighter and more cheerful."— S.G.
So, do not let that old saying, "one can't
teach an old dog new tricks," make you grow mentally old before your
time. |
